Songbird

Songbird elicits a strong sense of Anxiety and Fear due to its dystopian setting, the high mortality rate of the COVID-23 virus, and the constant threat of forced quarantine in the dreaded 'Q zones'. The pervasive Sadness and Melancholy stem from the prolonged lockdown, isolation, and the loss of normal life, amplified by the characters' separation. Anticipation builds as the plot unfolds, driven by the characters' struggle for survival and connection against an oppressive system. The actions of the Department of Sanitation evoke Disturbing feelings and Empathy for those caught in its grip, while also stirring Anger at the authoritarian control.
