Given the grim reality of a 15-year-old forced into prostitution and her desperate, ultimately harrowing, attempt to escape, the audience's emotional response is dominated by profound Sadness and deep Empathy for Shara's plight. The film evokes strong feelings of Melancholy due to the unfulfilled dreams and the difficulty of escaping a harsh past. The subject matter itself is inherently Disturbing, leading to significant Anxiety for the characters' safety and future, alongside Disgust and Anger at the exploitative circumstances and the mother's actions.
